The Trans – European rail gauge "Rail Baltica" project is expected to be implemented in 2015 year, which will connect the Republic of Poland with the Republic of Lithuania. The project is important for cooperation with Polish business partners, cargo carriers and shippers, freight forwarders. The freight transportation agreements with "DB Schenker Rail AG", "DB Schenker Rail Polska", "PKP Cargo" are signed. The negotiations with "INTRA S.A." company continue regarding new container train route Vloclavek – Šeštokai – Klaipėda. The cooperation with "HUPAC" regarding container train "Šeštokai –Express", that goes on route Varšuva – Šeštokai – Kena – Minsk – Smolensk lasts 4 years. There are 20 enterprises, which transport freight from Šeštokai train station.

It is necessary to attract, organize and form particular freight flows for both countries after European standard gauge implementation. The Republic of Poland – is one of the most important strategic partners in Western Europe territory. For this reason the conference will provide the opportunity to continue the bilateral cooperation between the Republics of Lithuania and Poland.

The presentations about freight transportation via railways will be presented, logistic, forwarding issues and further opportunities for cooperation will be discussed during the conference.

 The main goal of the conference – to ensure the long – term mutually beneficial cooperation, effectively using railway transport opportunities and advantages.

The representatives from the Embassy of the Republic Lithuania in Poland, Ministry of Transport and Communications and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Klaipeda State Seaport Authority, the Lithuanian National Association of Forwarders and Logistics "LINEKA",   Ministry of Infrastructure and Development of the Republic of Poland and Polish State Railway Infrastructure.
